You do important work. It’s time more people know about it.

Purpose-driven businesses and nonprofits do work that matters. I help you tell that story clearly, then get it in front of the clients, partners and media outlets who need to hear it.

Clarify your brand first. Then build the public relations and marketing strategy that carry it into the world. One person, start to finish.

A conversation about your business and what it would take for the right people to find it.

You’ve grown.
The right people still don’t know it.

Maybe your business has outgrown the website that describes it. Maybe something big is coming, like a new program, a new location or a launch you've worked toward for years. Or maybe your board keeps saying you need more marketing. Whatever the trigger, the result is the same: people still describe your organization as smaller than it is.

You know the right people would choose you if they found you. But the clients, partners and funders you want most still don’t know you exist, and the ones who do can’t quite explain what you do. Meanwhile, other organizations doing thinner work keep getting the coverage.

You do excellent work. The story around it just hasn’t kept pace with how far you’ve come, and visibility can only carry a story people already understand. So that’s where I start, and then I make sure the right people hear it.

Why doesn’t marketing fix a story people don’t understand?

When the right people don’t understand you, the usual answer is more. More posts. Another campaign. Television ads to recruit volunteers. A print ad someone talked you into. Each one asks people to act on a story they don’t yet understand.

Meanwhile, the cost adds up quietly. Growth depends on who happens to remember your name. Referrals become your only pipeline. And the story worth telling never reaches the reporter, the donor or the client who was looking for exactly what you do.

What works is the right order: a story people understand first, then the visibility to carry it.

One person who builds your brand and gets it seen.

I know what it takes to get a story covered, and I know coverage only works when the story is clear. So I do both.

First, I help you put words to what you do, so it speaks clearly to the people you want to reach and never sounds like a marketer borrowing your story. Then, with my team of designers and developers, I build the brand around it and put it to work with the communication campaigns, media outreach, and the partners who help you grow.

Your first step with me: the Key Insights Brief.

Before we build anything, I look closely at what’s really going on. I dig into your business, your website and how you talk about what you do. Then I tell you plainly what’s holding you back and what to do first.

In about a week, you’ll have a clear picture of where you stand and a recommended next step, whether that’s new messaging, a full relaunch or getting your story in front of the media. It keeps you from spending money on the wrong fix.

Hi, I’m Elizabeth King

Most people who do this work have only seen it from one side. I’m an Accredited Public Relations professional who has worked in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. I've been a fundraiser and grant maker, and now run a firm that helps organizations tell their story in a way that gets the attention they deserve. Having sat in both seats, I know what attracts the clients you want to serve, what makes the people holding the funding say yes, and how to put your story in front of them.

Is this the right fit?

You’re in the right place if:

  • You lead a purpose-driven business or nonprofit, and the work itself is strong.

  • You've grown, or something big is coming, and your brand hasn't kept pace.

  • You want more of the right people to know about you, and to understand what they're hearing.

  • You'd rather have one person carry it from the brand building to the communication strategy than manage three firms.

  • You make the final call, with two or three people helping you decide.

This probably is not the right fit if:

  • You only want someone to post on social media for you.

  • Every decision needs a large committee before anything can move.

“From high heels and chic mode to hardworking blue jeans, Elizabeth King is the consummate professional who can parlay with the donor club and still relate to those in need. Her professionalism, grace, and heart are a recipe for effective PR and fundraising.”

Questions people ask before we talk.

What it looks like when the story and the visibility work together.

A domestic violence shelter came to me as it prepared to open a new Family Peace Center, growing the shelter from 54 beds to 132 and bringing services that were once spread across up to 22 locations under one roof. We rebuilt the brand from the logo up, then the website and every piece of material they hand out. Then we took it to the public. Between April and September, that launch earned overabout $300,000 in free media coverage, and I'm still helping them tell their story today.
